Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma can be administered for hair restoration, acne scars, under the eyes for dark circles, and added as an enhancement to microneedling for collagen stimulation This involves a blood draw the day of the treatment to extract your own human growth factors to enhance the healing process. PRP is a rich liquid gold from your blood which is full of your body’s own growth factors. This will contribute and stimulate healing and regeneration. PRP can be infused into the treatment areas via injections and microneedling.  Once the skin has had its microneedling treatment, your plasma is placed on your skin to enhance the wound healing process for an even more elevated increase of healthy cell/collagen reproduction. This process has been safely administered in thousands of procedures worldwide.

How does PRP Therapy work for hair restoration?

The growth factors in PRP can affect growth of the hair follicles by stimulating the stem cells and other cells of the hair follicle. This promotes healing and regeneration and stimulates new cellular growth. The primary purpose of using PRP in hair restoration is to stimulate inactive or newly implanted hair follicles into an active growth phase.

How many treatments do I need for hair restoration?

Generally, 3 sessions 4-6 weeks apart. After a series, it is recommended that you may need 1 treatment per year. Results vary from patient to patient.

Does hair restoration work for baldness?

Unfortunately, it does not work for baldness. It is best for patients whose hair lines are beginning to thin. If we can catch the active hair growth phase before it completely dies, then results will be most effective.

How is PRP administered for hair restoratoin and for microneedling?

Once we draw your blood and spin it in the centrifuge, your PRP will be injected into your scalp along the areas that are thinning. Once injected, then the scalp is treated with the SkinPen along the thinning areas with more PRP then added for deeper penetration for hair recruitment.

What does a PRP therapy injection feel like on the scalp?

Generally, it feels like a poke. We will place a topical numbing agent to the treatment site to help with the sensation of the injection.
